Filipino Style Spaghetti

Sweet and salty. I find Filipino spaghetti too sweet, which I think one of the reasons why children love it. I am not a huge fan of it unless it's from Jollibee (a popular Filipino food chain) or La Neng made it (my late grandmother). During the lockdown I tried to recreate the food I enjoyed the most from restaurants and my childhood, and this one made the list.

Filipino Style Spaghetti

Tomato Sauce - for this recipe I used ready made tomato sauce

Ketchup - best with banana ketchup

1 Clove of garlic

½ Onion

Cheddar (I used havarti in this version)

Spaghettini

Ground Beef or Sausage (optional)

1 tsp Sugar

Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Olive Oil

Sweat the garlic and onions with olive oil. Turn the heat up to high, add the meat, let it cook until it’s brown. Turn down the heat to medium and then, add the tomato sauce and sugar, let it simmer.

Turn the heat down, mix in the cooked pasta and grated cheese.

*In this version, I used what I had in my kitchen.
